Shrewsbury Summer School – Not Running in 2027
For 14 summers – from 2009 to 2019 and again from 2023 to 2025 – Discovery Summer welcomed students aged 11–16 to Shrewsbury School for our English, Coding & Tech and Sports Academies. Our Shrewsbury summer school will not run in 2027.

Shrewsbury School
Shrewsbury is well-known as a traditional independent school. It was founded in 1552 and has Charles Darwin amongst its famous 'old boys'. It is situated across the River Severn from the lively market town of Shrewsbury. Manchester and Birmingham airports are approximately 1.5 hours by road; London Heathrow 3-4 hours. It has an outstanding campus with both traditional and modern buildings.
The school's impressive sporting facilities include sports pitches, an astroturf, tennis, squash and fives courts, an indoor sports hall and 25m 6-lane swimming pool. There are large IT suites, an art studio and a theatre.

No. Our Shrewsbury centre will not run in summer 2027. Our 2027 residential courses are at Benenden (Kent), Marymount (London) and Winchester College.
For ages 9–16, Benenden is closest: a traditional boarding school with 20 hours' English a week, sports facilities and an optional Coding & Tech class. Teens aged 13–16 can also choose Winchester English Plus+.
Yes. Coding & Tech is an optional extra at Benenden, and tennis and horse-riding are available at Benenden and Marymount.
